A little about me

I’m Megan (she/her).

I've always been curious about people — why we do the things we do, the experiences that shape us, and the stories we carry with us.

I believe we all have a need to feel understood. Not just in one part of who we are, but in all the different, sometimes complicated and contradictory parts of our identities.

For me, therapy is a space where those parts can be explored without judgement.

I don't believe that the things that make us different should automatically be seen as things that need fixing.

Our identities, relationships, sexuality, gender, desires and ways of relating are shaped by our experiences and the world around us. Sometimes what causes us distress isn't who we are, but the expectations placed upon us, the responses we've received from others, or the stories we've learned about ourselves.

I think it can be incredibly powerful to have a space where you don't have to defend or justify parts of yourself.

About You

Perhaps you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed or disconnected from yourself. Maybe you're struggling with anxiety, low mood or self-esteem, or finding that the same patterns keep showing up in your life and relationships.

You might be exploring your gender, sexuality or identity, navigating relationships or intimacy, or trying to understand parts of yourself that haven't always felt easy to make sense of.

Or perhaps you can't quite put your finger on what's wrong. You just know that something doesn't feel right.

You don't need to have a clear reason for being here, or a neatly packaged story to tell.

We can start wherever you are.

How I work

The relationship we build together is central to my work

I work relationally and from a person-centered perspective, with warmth, honesty, curiosity and acceptance. I'm interested in what you're experiencing, as well as how you experience yourself in relationship with other people — and with me.

I'll listen carefully, ask questions and sometimes gently challenge you when it feels useful.

Therapy isn't something I do to you. It's something we explore together.

I work integratively, drawing on different therapeutic approaches depending on what feels useful for you. There isn't one way of doing therapy, and I won't expect you to fit yourself into a particular model.

My Experience

I'm a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), working within the BACP Ethical Framework.

Alongside my private practice, I have professional experience within the LGBTQIA+ charity sector, supporting people around sexuality, identity and mental health. This has deepened my understanding of how important it can be to have a therapeutic space where you don't have to explain, defend or justify who you are.

I am currently undertaking further training in psychosexual and relationship therapy, developing my work around intimacy, desire, sexuality and relationships.

I value ongoing learning, supervision and reflection as an important part of being a responsible therapist.

Get In Touch.

It is important that you find a counsellor that you feel comfortable with and an initial meeting can help us to explore how it feels to work together. I offer a free 15-20 phone or online session for us to meet and explore what might be bringing you to counselling, what your hopes or expectations are and I can answer any questions you might have about the process.
